Being a multi-racial and multi-cultural country, Malaysia is also a food haven with an extensive array of mouth-watering local and international cuisines. It comes as no surprise that eating is a favourite pastime among Malaysians and at any time of day, Malaysians can be spotted converging in hawker stalls or restaurants indulging in their favourite dish.
Meeting national food and export requirements
Population and income growth as well as changes in lifestyle resulting from urbanization in Malaysia is bringing about changing tastes, food preferences and an increasingly high food consumption pattern. Coupled with its strong performance in intra-Asean trade and aggressive promotion as an international trading nation, the demand of F & B for consumption and exports is further escalating. Malaysia is stepping up efforts to become net food exporter by 2010.
